To allow for more stable global connectivity, the startup Lynk, founded in 2015, intends to send telephone antennas into space. And what seems like a distant dream for a startup is becoming more and more real. The company was able to send a text message directly from space to an Android smartphone.
On its official website, the company says its mission is “to democratize access to knowledge, take advantage of proprietary technology and employ high caliber people with diverse backgrounds”.
The text message was sent from a low-earth orbit satellite to an unmodified Android device in the Falkland Islands. Everything happened on February 24 and was validated by an external observer, with no connection to the company. The entire event was recorded and posted on the Lynk channel on Vimeo.
Although Lynk is not the only company that tries to take telecommunications into space, it was the first to do so effectively. Now, the startup works with 30 other mobile phone operators so that space technology can reach the market and, consequently, our homes. If all goes well, soon we will be able to have more efficient and low-cost mobile connectivity, improving communication between devices from all over the planet.
“With the permission of the regulators, we are confident that we will be able to bring a world-class solution to a market of billions of people by the end of this year,” said the company’s CEO and co-founder, Charles Miller, in a statement.
From the progress it has made, it appears that Lynk will be able to achieve its goal. Earlier this month, the company had already sent the fourth mobile phone antenna into space onboard SpaceX’s CRS-20 mission. With this new antenna positioned, the company plans to include more countries in its next tests, to be carried out later this year.

“I was created using deep learning technology by studying Kim Ju-Ha’s videos starting from the way he spoke, the sound he produced, the facial expressions, the movements of the lips, and how his body moved. I can deliver the exact same news as Kim Ju-Ha did, “said AI Kim Ju-Ha in his introduction.
It appears that AI Kim Ju-Ha can indeed speak very fluently like a real human. Even if we weren’t told that it was an AI, we probably wouldn’t even notice!
This elastic sensor technology can make robots and VR feel like a human
The development of VR (Virtual Reality) technology is currently quite great, where there are many things that have been presented using this technology. But currently, there is still a barrier between the VR world and the real world, the barrier is that we can’t touch objects in the VR world.
This is what makes researchers from Cornell University interested in developing sensors that can detect objects in the real world and can later be displayed in VR. This technology comes in the form of an elastic glove which is equipped with several sensors on the fingers.

Rob Shepherd as the head of the research said that at this time the technology had begun to be completed. Although it is quite difficult to gauge what touch feels like in the real world, these technologists allow them to make interaction relationships, especially for touch.
In addition, Shepherd also said that this technology would also be very useful for the development of VR and AR-based on motion capture. Because this sensor can tell how much pressure to apply when doing something, for example when repairing a car and changing its wheels.
OmniVision Introduces 64MP Sensor With 1.0µm Pixels
Last February, OmniVision launched a 64 MP 1 / 1.7 sensor, which has 0.8 µm pixels. And now, the company is releasing a sensor that’s bigger than ever again, which is 64MP 1 / 1.34 and has 1.0µm pixels. Interestingly, this sensor can be used in ultrawide screens.
The pixels, which are larger than OmniVision OV64A, are 60% more sensitive to light compared to 0.8 µm pixels. Naturally, it has a 4-cell (aka Quad Bayer) color filter for pixel binning.
While it can output 8K videos at 30fps, the more interesting mode is 4K with 4-in-1 binning which results in sizable 2.0µm pixels. Especially when used for photos, this same binning mode can produce 16MP images.
This sensor also supports HDR which is even brighter and processes the HDR image faster than before.
Not only that, this sensor can provide them with a stable 4K 120 FPS and also offers 1080p 240 FPS and 720p 480FPS modes.
Reportedly this sensor will be delivered before this year ends which is possible in 2021, some mid-range and high-end phones can use this sensor.
