Data Steal Of Instagram Users
Data Steal Of Instagram Users:- Of course, Facebook is not one of the examples when we talk about privacy or use of user data, especially after the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Well, as we have just learned, those of Mark Zuckerberg is again splashed by a new theft of user data, in this case, Instagram. On this occasion, it is not Facebook that is pointed with the finger, at least directly. But it has been one of its marketing partners that has stolen data from millions of Instagram users.
Specifically, it has been the company Hyp3r responsible for collecting millions of Stories and photos published on the popular social network to obtain specific user-profiles and subsequently send them advertising. Yesterday, Instagram himself sent a letter to the marketing company informing him of the termination of his contract with the social network after having broken the rules of the same.
Hyp3r would have stolen millions of Stories and Instagram photos for over a year
Of course, the theft of this data was possible thanks to a combination of errors of the network configuration and the lack of supervision by the company of Mark Zuckerberg to detect such actions.
In this way, Hyp3r was compiling millions of Stories, biographies, and photos published on Instagram, for at least one year, to create detailed profiles to which to send a specific type of advertising. For this, the marketing company collected images labeled with the location of the same and even made use of image recognition software to detect. Where they had been made, as well as other data, and then use all this information to launch. These users advertise themselves.
For example, if someone was in a hotel and posted a selfie from there, the company was able to process this information and subsequently launch advertising from other hotels to that user. Therefore, Hyp3r took advantage of a security breach in the social network to collect this type of user content, although some such as the Stories are designed to disappear after 24 hours, which means for Instagram a clear violation of the terms of the service.
Also, the former Instagram partner took the opportunity to deepen the profiles of these users further and gather more information such as biographies and followers and link all this information with location data and data from other sources.
The majority of stolen data from Instagram users came before Instagram began removing certain features from its API after the case of Cambridge Analytica. Something that was publicly received as a considerable measure to protect everyone’s privacy by Hyp3r herself. Who, however, went to work behind to build a system that could skip Instagram changes and thus continue to collect this data from anyway.
You Can Now Schedule Tweets For The Time And Day You Want
The social network Twitter, which competes with platforms like Facebook, announced this Thursday a new tool for users.
Now you can write a tweet and, instead of posting it right away, schedule the date and time for when you want it to be published. For now, the option is only available through internet browsers and not in the app.
In November, Twitter had already advanced that it was testing this tool, which, for example, only exists through third-party services on other social networks such as Reddit and Instagram.
The advantage of this new mechanism, which can be activated by pressing the calendar button when writing a tweet, lies in the user’s option to choose a more opportune time to publish content without being online. In addition, the measure allows “Twitter user at the pace” of each user, as announced by the platform.
Another novelty presented is the possibility of saving drafts of tweets. That is, if you write a tweet and do not want to delete it, you can leave it written to continue writing later. These are not new measures and have been implemented by other services.
In the case of Gmail, Google’s free email service, scheduling of electronic messages became integrated into the platform in April 2019.

In recent days Twitter has been implementing changes to the platform. The one that created the most controversy was the addition of fact-check labels in user publications that the platform considers to violate its rules and propagate false news.
This led to one of the tweets of Donald Trump, president of the USA, having this note. This Friday, after Trump signed a decree that could change the way Twitter makes this regulation, the social network again left a notice in one of the president’s tweets.
Tiktok Was The Application That Generated The Most Revenue In April
Adored by many and criticized by many others, the truth is that TikTok has managed to win over users and today it is one of the most popular applications worldwide.
Interest in the app grew even more during this confinement phase due to COVID-19 and many took the opportunity to try the app.
Thus, through the analysis of application accounts, TikTok managed to be the app that generated the most revenue in April.
The application that generated the most revenue in April was TikTok
According to the analysis carried out by the company SensorTower, TikTok and its Chinese version Douyin achieved 315 million downloads worldwide. This result concerns only the 1st quarter of 2020.
In financial terms, in general, TikTok was the application that generated the most revenue in April, totaling 78 million dollars (~ 71 million euros) accumulated in the month.
But even though popularity has increased worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the Chinese version that contributed the largest share of that value. In particular, the Douyin app was responsible for 86.6% of the amount.
According to SensorTower, TikTok’s revenues come mainly from iOS devices.
This SensorTower data relates only to purchases made for services within the app (in-app purchase), not including, for example, profits due to advertising.
YouTube came in second
Google’s well-known video platform, however, was the second application that generated the most revenue in April. The value achieved by YouTube was 76 million dollars (~ 69 million euros), which represents an increase of 56% compared to the same period last year. A curiosity is that 56.4% of the platform’s profit comes from US users.
As we can see from the SensorTower table, in general, Tinder was the 3rd app that generated the most revenue in April, followed by Disney + and the Tencent Video application. Netflix comes in sixth, followed by iQIYI and BIGO LIVE. Finally, LINE Manga ranks 9th, and lastly the Google One app.
Facebook Can Now Track Scammers in its Messaging App
Facebook said Thursday that its Messenger app can now discreetly track scammers using the smartphone’s communication system in the background.
Security messages will appear as an alert in conversations if the behind-the-scenes activity of any of the devices is considered suspicious by artificial intelligence technology.
The new functionality “will help millions of people potentially avoid dangerous interactions and scams, without compromising their privacy,” said Jay Sullivan, director of privacy and security product management at Facebook.
The system was already implemented in March on phones that run on Android and will be implemented this week on iPhones.
“Too often, people chat with someone online that they think they know when they are actually an impostor,” said Jay Sullivan. “These fake accounts are difficult to identify and the consequences can be expensive.”
Artificial intelligence detects questionable behaviors, such as the mass sending of messages directed at certain regions or demographic groups.
This technology does not require examining the content of the messages, says Facebook, which intends to switch to full encryption, also called “end-to-end”, in Messenger, just like the one that the group’s other messaging application has.
“To prepare for end-to-end encryption, we are investing in tools like this that protect people’s privacy without reading messages,” said Sullivan.
Messenger already uses programs capable of combating junk mail (spam) and hindering attempts by adults to contact minors that they do not seem to know.
With the coronavirus pandemic, Facebook is trying to accelerate the implementation of new tools that strengthen its platforms, more used than ever due to confinement.
