Google Drive Protects Your Files And Documents With The iPhone Touch Id

If you save delicate files and documents on Google Drive, on iPhone and iPad you have extra security: blocking the application with Touch ID and Face ID.

Although Google has its own Android operating system around which there is an entire ecosystem of devices, sometimes options and features arise for competing platforms, such as Apple.

As an example, the subject at hand, Google Drive, Google’s online storage service that you can use on any device, and this includes the iPhone and iPad. In addition, it offers very practical functions such as 15GB of free space, automatic synchronization, editing, and creation of documents …

Precisely, the iPhone and iPad have their own security measures, such as Touch ID and Face ID. The first is used to unlock the screen or any application using the fingerprint of your finger. Face ID, meanwhile, does the same using facial recognition.

More security on Google Drive

As well. It turns out that Google Drive for iOS and iPadOS allows you to activate extra security taking advantage of the Touch ID and Face ID technology of Apple smartphones and tablets. That is, in addition to serving to unlock the main screen, once the Google application is opened, without this second layer of security, Google Drive will not show the files associated with the configured account or accounts.

Apparently, this option is already available in previous versions of iOS, it disappeared, and it’s back again so that Apple users can further protect the files stored on Google Drive.

To activate this option you just have to open the Google Drive app on iPhone or iPad, if possible in its most current version. You can check if it is updated from the App Store. Once inside Google Drive, in the menu in the upper left corner, we will see the Settings option. Inside, click on the Privacy screen.

All we have to do is click on the gray button on that screen. On the left, it says something like “With the privacy screen enabled, you will need Touch ID and a password to access this application.”

Once activated, you can also configure the waiting time. Immediately to 10 minutes, 1 minute or 10 seconds.

Fast and easy

From now on, every time you open Google Drive, instead of having access to your files, as usual, you must enter your code or activate Touch ID or Face ID as you normally do.

All in all, Google cautions that there are a few options that can escape that security. That is, despite that additional crash, notifications or certain information may be displayed on Siri. But the important thing, your files, and documents will be blocked unless you activate Touch ID or Face ID.

Google Chrome Introduces Dark Mode Improvisation to Have a Darker Experience

As we know, Google Chrome users can use the Windows 10 operating system and can feel how Google’s browser appears in a dark theme (Dark Mode). But Google has just brought a new update to the Dark Mode feature in Google Chrome.

In collaboration with Microsoft, it is stated that the Dark Mode in the Google Chrome software will get an improvisation where the mode will bring a dark mode experience that is really dark.

One of the changes that will be introduced is the scroll-bar color, which will appear in a dark color later. Previously, the scroll-bar in Google Chrome still appeared in white even though the Dark Mode feature in Windows 10 had been activated.

Not only for scroll-bars, it is known that this update will also apply to the settings menu, bookmarks, history, and also PDF print view. Of course, this makes Google Chrome’s Dark Mode not only present as a normal ‘skin’ mode but actually brings a dark mode experience to all parts of the application.

Currently, the Dark Mode update is still in the testing phase. You can see that this feature has been added to the Chrome Canary channel by adding the command ” –enable-features = WebUIDarkMode, CSSColorSchemeUARendering \ –force-dark-mode “.

The plan is that Google will only roll out the update in the Chrome 88 update which will be rolled out next year.

MacBook with Apple M1 Processor Can Still Run Windows 10 OS

Apple has just officially launched a new Mac device equipped with an ARM-based Apple M1 processor. The use of this latest processor also brings a big increase in terms of the performance and durability of the device.

However, one of the things that worries many people is whether the Mac device equipped with the Apple M1 processor can still run the Windows 10 operating system or not. Because as we know, the Windows operating system is designed to run on the x86 chipset while the Apple M1 is an ARM-based processor.

MacBook with Apple M1 Processor Can Still Run Windows 10 OS

It turns out that the use of an ARM-based Apple M1 processor does not rule out the latest Mac devices to run Windows operating systems. This was also proven by a developer named Alexander Graf who successfully runs the Windows 10 operating system on his MacBook.

Through his personal Twitter account, Alexander Graf also shows the appearance of the Windows 10 operating system running on his MacBook using a modified QEMU emulator software.

“Who said Windows can’t run well on Apple Silicon?” Alexander Graf wrote showing the performance of the MacBook Apple M1 which is quite good when running this operating system from Microsoft.
