How to Overcome Windows 11 Can’t Drag and Drop

Since Microsoft officially released Windows 11 to the public. Users commonly use several features that do not function normally, one of which is the drag and drop feature. There are usually minor bugs on new operating systems, or the omission of some features is commonplace, including in Windows 11.

In Windows 11, the drag and drop function on the taskbar is not a bug, but Microsoft has disabled or removed this feature in Windows 11.

For those of you who are used to working on Windows 11 using the drag and drop feature, you may feel a little lost because you are used to using this feature.

Therefore, in this article, we will give you tips on how to deal with windows 11 that cannot drag and drop; here are the steps:

1. Using Alt + Tab Shortcut To Drag and Drop

This method is the best solution that can be used for those of you who are familiar with drag and drop. To do so, follow the steps below:

First, click and hold on the file or folder you want to drag and drop. Then move a little to the left or right until it forms a shadow like this:

  • Hold the file or folder, and then press the Alt + Tab key to open the tab.
  • Then you will see a list of all existing windows. Select where the file you want to move is by pressing the Tab key repeatedly without releasing the ALT key.
  • If you have chosen where the file will be dropped, release the ALT + Tab key, then your file or folder will automatically move to the location you selected.

2. Change Registry System

By modifying the system registry, you can reactivate the Drag and Drop function in Windows 11; the method is as follows:

  • Press Windows key + R, then type:
Overcome Windows 11 Can’t Drag and Drop
  • then press the Enter key or click Ok
  • Next, navigate to the directory:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell\Update\Packages

  • Then in the Packages directory, right-click on a space, and click New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Then make the name UndockingDisabled.
  • Then double click on the UndockingDisabled file, fill in the Value Data to 1, and click OK.
  • Then close the system registry > restart your PC/Laptop.

Then the drag and drop function will be active again in windows 11

Using Third Party Applications

Suppose you are lazy and feel complicated with the method above. In that case, you can use a third-party application to restore the drag and drop function and several other functions that are not available on Windows 11.

This application is called ” StartAllBack: Windows 11 from better timeline “. Install the application; then, all functions will be active, including the drag and drop function that no longer exists in Windows 11.

How to Install Windows 11 Without Internet Connection

Installing Windows 11 without an internet connection is a bit different from the usual process of downloading it online. However, it is still possible to install Windows 11 offline. The process can be broken down into several steps to make it simple and straightforward. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Prepare your PC

Before you begin, ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. You also need a USB flash drive with a minimum of 8GB of storage to create a bootable USB drive. Additionally, make sure you have the Windows 11 installation media, either as a physical DVD or an ISO file on your computer.

Step 2: Create a bootable USB drive

If you have the ISO file, you can use the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drive. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website.
  2. Insert the USB drive into your computer and run the Media Creation Tool.
  3. Select “Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC.”
  4. Choose the language, edition, and architecture of Windows 11, then click Next.
  5. Select “USB flash drive,” and then click Next.
  6. Choose the USB drive from the drop-down menu, and then click Next.
  7. Wait for the tool to create the bootable USB drive, which may take a while.

Step 3: Boot your PC from the USB drive

Once the bootable USB drive is ready, you can use it to install Windows 11 on your PC. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your computer and insert the USB drive.
  2. Turn on your computer and press the appropriate key to enter the boot menu. The key depends on your computer’s manufacturer, but common options are Esc, F2, F8, F10, or F12.
  3. Select the USB drive from the boot menu, and then press Enter.
  4. Wait for Windows 11 to load from the USB drive, which may take a while.

Step 4: Install Windows 11

Once Windows 11 is loaded from the USB drive, you can begin the installation process. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Install button to start the setup process.
  2. Choose the language, time, and currency format, and keyboard or input method, then click Next.
  3. Click on Install now to continue.
  4. Accept the license terms and click Next.
  5. Choose “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced),” and then click Next.
  6. Select the hard drive or partition where you want to install Windows 11, then click Next.
  7. Wait for the installation process to complete, which may take a while.
  8. Configure your settings, such as the username, password, and privacy options, then click Next.
  9. Wait for Windows 11 to complete the setup process and restart your computer.

Once your computer has restarted, Windows 11 should be installed and ready to use. The process of installing Windows 11 without an internet connection may be a bit different, but it is still straightforward and easy to follow. With the right preparation, you can have Windows 11 up and running on your PC in no time.
