How to prevent my hard drives from going to ‘Sleep’ in Windows 10, 8 and 7

The well-being of your computer is essential. For everything you store in it and for everything, you can do in your day to day. Each operating system implements functions that contribute to the health of the computer. However, some may harm a little more than they help. Therefore, it is important to know how to prevent my hard drives from going to ‘sleep’ in Windows 10, 8, and 7.
This is just one of the many tricks that are simple, but many ignore it. Discover this extraordinary way to extend the life of your hard drives. Prepared? Let’s get started!
The ‘sleep’ mode
As you well know, all parts of the computer have elements or components that you must take care of. In this sense, hard drives have many components that guarantee their effective performance.
Windows knows this and has been concerned with designing functions that, in turn, take care of these very important components. This is how the function for hard drives to go to ‘sleep’ was implemented .
This is only a parameter to save energy. It is available for both desktop and laptop computers. Its objective is the deactivation of components of the computer when fulfilling this with a period of inactivity.
It is dangerous?
It is not entirely necessary to prevent my hard drives from going to ‘sleep’. Many consider it, in fact, quite a harmless function. However, no one is exempt from failing at some point.

On older computers, if they go to ‘sleep’ too constantly, they can end up being very unstable. The reason for this is the wear on physical components of both the hard drive and other parts of the computer.
What you should know
Some confusion usually occurs when talking about the ‘sleep’ mode of Windows. One of them is the difference between hibernate and suspend in Windows.
They both serve the same goal: to ensure a fast startup of the computer and to save energy. However, one function is more effective than the other.
- Sleep mode, when activated, stores configuration information in RAM.
- Whereas, the ‘hibernate’ mode, when activated, stores the same information directly on the hard disk.
- By storing information in RAM, ‘sleep’ mode saves less power if a laptop is on battery.
- The ‘sleep’ mode is highly effective for those who stop using the computer for up to 2 hours. Since it allows you to restart activities more quickly.
- However, for those who will stay away for much longer, the ideal ‘hibernate’ option.
Avoid hard drive suspension
You already have a clearer picture when it comes to enabling hibernate and suspend mode in Windows 10, right? But, despite being considered harmless, the decision to prevent my hard drives from going to ‘sleep’ was already irremediable. It only remained to find the easiest way to carry out this operation.
Any of the Windows versions
Once you know what it is and how to activate the suspension, the rest is relatively simple. In Windows 10, the way to access the power settings is very easy. To do this, comply with the following instructions:
- Press the ” Windows + R ” keys and enter the following command: powercfg.cpl and click “OK”. Write the word “Energy.”
- Click on “Change plan settings.”
- Click on “Change advanced power settings”.
- Next, a box will appear in which you will see the option “Turn off hard disk after”.
- Enter “0” as the value to change the sleep time: “On battery” or “With the alternating current”. You can even do it in both.

All ready!
With these simple steps, your computer will suffer absolutely nothing when entering ‘sleep’ mode. You can also take advantage of the benefits of Windows to create shortcuts to shut down or suspend.
At this point, it is important to note that the most used command or shortcut is the Alt + F4 buttons. It is used when all programs are closed, causing the appearance of a box that allows you to shut down, suspend, or hibernate.

Apple prepares Apple Music for Windows 10

Good news for you Apple Music users, where reportedly Apple has now tested the Apple Music application at the Microsoft Store. Yep, for now, this version of Apple Music is still a Test and Beta version, but of course, many users expect this application to also be present in Windows 10.
Even though in Windows 10 we can install iTunes, but for iPhone and Mac users who often use Apple Music, the unavailability of this application in Windows 10 can be a big drawback.
Indeed, for now, Apple Music users are forced to open Apple Music Beta via the browser, some of them even make it a PWA, but of course because it is a browser there are a number of shortcomings that are felt, such as web performance which sometimes lags in some animations, and others.
Regarding the project and development of Apple Music from Apple, it is not known when this application will be released publicly, but a number of Insiders and testers, they have received the application via the Microsoft Store as part of Private Testing.
And hopefully, this application is not a PWA version but a UWP version that is stable and comfortable to use.

Microsoft Introduces Voice Typing on Microsoft Edge Chromium

Recently, Microsoft has without notice added a “Voice Typing” function to the context menu on Microsoft Edge Chromium.
This feature is present for you users of the latest Microsoft Edge Chromium Canary, where you just need to right-click on the page or form you are open to write something and then select Start voice typing to start typing via the input voice command.

It’s just like the Voice feature in general, you have to make sure that the Mic is properly installed and functioning properly, then to maximize this feature, you can only enter what voice or command you will type in English only.
But wait, before right-clicking and selecting voice typing, or pressing the Win + H combination key, you must activate the following two things, Optional diagnostic data, and import inking and typing, both of which you can access on the Settings> Privacy page.

Because if not then, you will only find the Dictate feature, it’s different if the two options above have been activated, you will find a menu that comes out of pressing the voice typing button, it will be simpler like the following image.

But even so, sometimes the feature still doesn’t appear for some users, and maybe at this time this feature is still being launched as a controlled rollout, however, this feature in the future it will make Microsoft Edge Chromium even better with Voice typing support which will certainly help some people.

Microsoft fixes the problem with many running Microsoft Edge Update (32 bit) processes

For those of you who don’t know, previously some users experienced a problem where when Microsoft Edge Chromium updated, there were a number of processes that could be said to be multiple, namely the “Microsoft Edge Update (32 bit)” process, the process could run quite a lot, even in the case of I can up to 12 running processes.

Now if you also find the same thing, don’t worry, this is not a process caused by malware, but a bug that Microsoft has admitted itself,
” This process duplication is something the team is aware and rolled out a fix for, however that fix is still rolling out and not everyone has it just yet,” said Microsoft Edge Community Manager, Missy Quarry on the Reddit forum.
Now as Missy Quarry said, this problem will be fixed in the updates that Microsoft releases gradually, so hopefully, you will wait until you get the latest minor updates on Microsoft Edge that you are using.
Regarding this matter, are you also having the same problem? comment below guys.
