Xiaomi launches the Mi Speaker, a smart speaker with Google assistant
From Xiaomi, we had already known many smart speakers, of all possible sizes and formats, but they all had the same problem, they had Xiaomi’s XiaoAI voice assistant, completely useless for us because we had the voice assistant in the Chinese language.
But today we have met a new speaker that has arrived in India with the Google assistant, which maximizes the chances that it will arrive in Spain in the near future since in this way it would be equated with so many other speakers with this assistant in our country.
Features of the Xiaomi Mi Speaker
We are facing a speaker that reminds us of a lot of the classic Amazon Echo, with a cylindrical shape and the notification LED in a ring at the top, it is practically a visual clone. It offers everything we can expect from one of these speakers, albeit with Xiaomi’s unmistakable stamp.
It has a powerful 12W speaker, with 63.5mm drivers, so it is undoubtedly a speaker that is characterized by a high-quality sound compared to its competitors. In addition, its Texas Instruments processor is capable of offering high fidelity sound in combination with the sound algorithms used.
It has DTS sound, something like the HDR of sound, optimizing the audio with a richer, more defined sound with clear voices and strong bass without distortion.
Undoubtedly what interests us most, in this case, is that despite being a Xiaomi speaker, it offers us the Google assistant, which allows it to be compatible with thousands of Internet of Things devices with which we can control the smart home using voice commands.
When we say that it looks like a clone of the classic Echo is that it is so, because we also have several buttons at the top to be able to raise and lower the volume, as well as stop and resume playback, or mute the microphone.
At the moment, the version that has been put on sale in India is available in Hindi or English. Of course, it has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, to be able to be connected to the Internet and receive commands both live voice and through the app hundreds or thousands of kilometers away.
An interesting function of these speakers is that we can use them together in two units to improve the stereo sound of our Xiaomi TV. And they also have Chromecast integrated to be able to send our favorite content through them, such as Atresplayer for example.
A speaker that at least in India comes at a very competitive price if we compare it with that of its competitors, about 40 euros to change. This is practically half the price of a standard Amazon Echo or Google Home, which is usually around 90 or 100 euros.

Apple Exhibits New Product Tracker for $29 Coin-Sized Item Tracker
Apple has just shown off its newest product line, the name AirTag. This is a coin-sized item tracker that Apple plans to sell for $ 29 in India.
Apple made this AirTag announcement at today’s Spring Loaded 2021 event, amid other announcements regarding Apple TV and the new iPhone 12 color variant.
The Apple AirTag is more of an accessory than a complete product, for someone who wants to have more than just an iPhone or MacBook in the Apple ecosystem.
AirTag lets you track items in Apple’s “Find My” app on iOS. Apple AirTags’ goal is to keep track of everyday items such as keys, wallets, or backpacks, and notify you whenever you are separated from them.
Reporting from The Verge, Wednesday (21/4/2021), the new Apple AirTag itself has an internal speaker, accelerometer, Bluetooth LE, and a user-replaceable battery.
Apple says trackers should last one year of battery life, and you can use an NFC tap to activate lost mode for items you want to track.
According to Apple, each AirTag is equipped with an Apple-designed U1 chip using Ultra-Wideband technology, enabling Precision Search for iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 users.
This allows the user to more accurately determine the distance and direction to the AirTag that is lost while it is in range. As the user moves, Precision Search combines input from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope and then guides them to AirTag using a combination of sound, haptic, and visual feedback.
