How to Transfer Photos from PC to iPhone

Copying images from a computer to a smartphone may not be as difficult as it seems if you know the steps to follow. In this article, you will find several ways to transfer photos from PC to iPhone without using iTunes.

Transferring photos from your PC to your iPhone or vice versa can be, although it may not seem like it, a quick and easy process. Surely you have fought more than once with iTunes on your computer, so you will find it much easier to use iCloud.

If you have your Apple smartphone synced with your iCloud account, it should work automatically. Although if you have come this far, it is probably because you want to transfer photos saved on your computer or laptop to an iPhone or iPad.

Specifically, in this article, we are going to explain how to use the iCloud photo gallery, a service to synchronize photos from Apple that will allow you to transfer the images from your Windows computer to your iOS device.

In case you can settle for the free 5 GB that iCloud offers, this process will not cost you a penny. Of course, if you think that this is not enough for all your photos, you can pay € 0.99 per year for 50 GB; € 2.99 for 200 GB; € 9.99 for 2TB.

How does iCloud work?

Apple uses iCloud, its cloud storage and syncing service so that the photos iPhone users take with their smartphone are immediately available on both their computer and iPad.

Without a doubt, it is a very useful service, since it saves you the hassle of having to fiddle with cables and manually synchronize your data. It is also possible to transfer photos from your computer to your iPhone, but the process is somewhat different and depends on the software you use.

Method 1. Upload your photos using the iCloud website

If your device uses iOS 8 or higher, then you have it as easy as using the iCloud website. From there you can transfer as many photos as you want from your computer to your iPhone, which must obviously be synchronized with your iCloud account.

1. First, you must go to iCloud.com from any browser you have installed on your PC and enter using your Apple ID and password.

2. Next, select the icon corresponding to the ‘Photos’ app. The images you have stored there may take a while to load. That will depend on the number of photos stored.

On the other hand, keep in mind that, if this is the first time you are accessing the photo gallery from a browser, you will also have to go through a few steps to configure your account.

3. The time has come to select the photos you want to transfer from your PC to your iPhone. To upload photos, you will need to click on the cloud-shaped icon with an arrow pointing up. You will find it in the upper part on the right.

4. By clicking on this icon, you will now be able to browse the photos saved on your computer. Select the ones you want and click on ‘Upload’. You can hold down the ‘Ctrl’ key to choose more than one.

5. You just have to wait for the progression bar to complete. This does not usually last too long, but obviously, it will depend on the number of images you want to save on your iPhone.

6. Finally, you can check that they have effectively been transferred to your smartphone. You should see them in the ‘Photos’ folder of your iPhone, as long as you have your iCloud account open on your mobile.

Also, you should keep in mind that the images will be saved in chronological order. That is, if you took the photo in March, no matter how much you are transferring it in November, you can find it with the other March photos on your iPhone.

Method 2. Use an alternative cloud storage service

An alternative option to iCloud is to use any other cloud storage service like Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive. Now, keep in mind that this will mean that the photos will be saved in another app other than the iOS ‘Photos’ app.

Once you have installed the application of said service on your iPhone or iPad, you will be able to access all the documents and files that you have saved in your account from your mobile device.

Some programs even allow you to access these documents and files offline, so you won’t need an Internet connection. In these cases, you must select them when you do have access to the network.

It shouldn’t be too difficult for you to copy the photos from your PC to the folder of a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive. With the app on your mobile, you can also easily access it, and if you want, download and share it with others.

Method 3. Synchronize your photos using Google Photos

In the previous method, we have proposed Google Drive as an alternative to iCloud, although we recommend using Google Photos if you want to use a Google service. You can download the application for free from your App Store.

We especially like this mobile application because it will not only make a backup of your iPhone photos completely automatically, but you can also use it to store all your photos and videos from any device.

Thus, you can easily upload photos from your PC to the Google Photos website from any browser you have installed on your computer. It will also allow you to delete all the photos from your iPhone at once, as explained in this Macworld tutorial.

Alternative method: DearMob iPhone Manager

The three ways mentioned above are straightforward. Of course, they require an Internet connection. If in your case your iPhone is not connected to a Wi-Fi network, but you want to transfer photos from your computer to your iPhone, you still have options. You can use an application, such as an iPhone Manager.

DearMob iPhone Manager is an iOS device manager, compatible with both iPhone and iPad. It allows you to transfer photos from PC to iPhone and vice versa. You can also delete unwanted iPhone images in batches. In addition, it not only allows you to transfer photos but also music, video, contacts, SMS, ringtones, e-Books, and other files.

To transfer your photos from PC to iPhone with iPhone Manager, you need to go to the official website, download a free copy and install it. Once this is done, click on the ‘Photo Transfer icon> + button to create a new album> Add Photo’. Once you select the images you want to transfer, press ‘Sync’ and everything is ready.
